Number of members:

Seventeen.

Recruitment procedures and incompatibilities:

The members of the Supreme Court are professional magistrates; they do not have the right to exercise any other public or private function.

Internal organisation:

The Court includes one president and four councillors.

2. Jurisdictional attributions and advice

2.1. Court functions

Jurisdiction:

The Supreme Court is competent in the following matters:
a) constitutionallity of statutes;
b) control of public finances;
c) action of ultra vires and action in review in all administrative matters.

Organisation of the courts system:

The Supreme Court is divided into three chambers : the constitutional and administrative chamber, civil, penal, commercial and social chamber, financial chamber.

Powers of the judge:

The action of ultra vires is one of the prerogatives of the administrative judge in Guinea.

2.2. Advisory functions

The drafts of decrees, of statutes and of constitutional amendments are submitted to the general consultative assembly for advice.
