From 2 to 4 April 2025, the International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions held its XVth triennial congress. Organised in Santiago de Chile by the Supreme Court of Chile, which has held the presidency of the Association since 2022. The central theme of the event was: The general interest, the administration and the judge.
The Congress was opened by Minister Adelita Ravanales, President of the 3rd Chamber of the Supreme Court of Chile, Martine de Boisdeffre, Secretary General of AIHJA, Ricardo Blanco, President of the Supreme Court of Chile, and Álvaro Elizalde, Vice-President of the Republic of Chile.
Gathered in several working groups, the participants discussed the determination of the judge competent to review the administration and guarantee the preservation of the general interest, the definition of the concept of general interest and, finally, the review of the administrative courts on the aims of the general interest.
The Association's Board of Directors and General Assembly met on this occasion. The Board approved applications for membership from the Council of State of Iraq, the Supreme Court of Kenya and the Supreme Court of Kuwait, bringing the number of members of the Association to 65 as of 1 January 2026. The Board also approved the application by the Court of Justice of the West African Economic and Monetary Union to acquire observer status.
At the end of the Congress, the Spanish Supreme Court was elected President of the Association. It will be responsible for organising the next Congress, scheduled to take place in Madrid in 2028.
